Sports Commentators are coming to Ile-de-France!

Launched two years ago in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Sports Commentator project is starting its first class in Ile-de-France for the young people in the Job dans la Ville program.

The "Sports Commentators" program is a programme dedicated to young people at Job dans la Ville to help them discover the profession of sports commentator and journalist. The objectives of the program are numerous: to develop self-confidence, public speaking, analysis of information, group work, improvisation techniques, etc. Sports Commentator allows young people to gain confidence and enhance their speaking skills. 

Although the program has been in existence since 2015 in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, it is a great first for young people from the Ile-de-France region who have the chance to be part of the 1st class of Parisian commentators.

Eight young people from Drancy, Saint-Denis, Sarcelles and Saint-Ouen took part in the first "Sports Commentators" workshop.
After a first day of workshops, consisting of a soccer quiz and various activities around soccer and journalism, the young people had the chance the next day to visit the offices of L'Equipe .

The eight young people were able to take part in a 100% journalistic day at the Team's premises: in the morning, they had the chance to attend an editorial conference before having lunch with the Team's journalists and discussing their jobs. After meeting with members of the FondAction L'Equipe committee, the young people were able to comment in pairs on the last 15 minutes of the match between Paris-Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille on the eve of the match with the star commentator, Yoann Riou.

Yoann Riou, columnist and sports journalist for l'Equipe even came to the booth to coach the youngsters!

For the young people in the Sports Commentator program, the goal is a big one! Next June, during the World Cup in Russia, young people will have the chance to comment live on France's first match.
In pairs, they will comment together on this first match in front of an audience of partners, mentors, employees of the association Sport dans la Ville but also their families, the opportunity to show their relatives the progress made throughout the workshop.
