Background

Created in 1998, Sport dans la Ville has become the main France’s leading organization for integration through sport in France. Sport dans la Ville is a successful example of social entrepreneurship: all the programs set up by Sport dans la Ville now promote the social and professional integration of 7,000 young people who are members of the organization. The Organization is supported by companies and public funding (Ministries, Regions, Cities).

We are looking for a sports educator who is convinced that sports are a tool for education and who wants to get involved in a new project. You are an educator capable of creating a safe environment, fostering group cooperation, building self-confidence, and helping children develop skills that will contribute to their academic success. You know how to tailor your sessions to the children’s needs, facilitate discussions that give meaning to the activities, and work in partnership with the educational teams.

 

Mission

 

In collaboration with the teams from the “Réussite dans la Ville” academic support program:

• Lead a series of social-sports sessions for first- and fifth-grade students

• Use sports as a tool for developing psychosocial and/or academic skills related to their schooling

• Lead debriefing sessions at the end of each session to help children identify what they have learned and connect it to their daily lives and schoolwork

• Lead multi-day camps during school breaks with these same children

• Participate in meetings and discussions with the “Réussite dans la Ville” teams to collaboratively develop the content of the sessions

• Build relationships with the parents and children involved in the project, particularly by holding individual family meetings

Desired profile

  • • You are dynamic, thorough, respectful, and considerate; you honor your commitments and enjoy working as part of a team
  • • Experience is preferred in supervising and leading groups of children ages 6–11 (after-school programs, school settings, PRE, recreation centers, IME, etc.), ideally in socio-educational projects related to sports.
  • • Recognized for your ability to connect with young people and lead a group, you want to contribute to a community and social project, as well as serve as an ambassador fororganization
  • • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science (STAPS) / BPJEPS APT or Team Sports
  • • A youth leadership certification is a plus (such as BAFA, BAFD, or equivalent)
  • • Hourly pay based on education and experience
