Testimony of Aïssetou Traore, entrepreneur of the Class of 2020

« When creating your business, you have to overcome your fears, throw yourself into the situation and be proactive”
Aïssetou Traore, Entrepreneurs dans la Ville, Ile-de-France, 2020 Class

When you meet Aïssetou for the first time, you admire her determination to change society and to develop help for as many disadvantaged children as possible. She has the means to fight thanks to her entrepreneurial project: help children with academic difficulties to succeed in their learning process and develop new skills.

Previously, Aïssetou was working abroad as a business advisor for 10 years. She decided to change her profession when she came back to France, launching her entrepreneurial adventure. To achieve her goals, she joined the 2020 Class of the Entrepreneurs dans la Ville program. “When I came back to France, I needed to recreate my professional network, to share experience and vision with entrepreneurs. The program helped me remember entrepreneurial basics, it was very usefull” Aïssetou explains.

“What I will remember from the training with the Entrepreneurs dans la Ville program is the importance of the group: we created strong links with the other entrepreneurs, despite the challenging context – and I met my amazing mentor, she assisted greatly in boosting my project.” Aïssetou was mentored by Cecile, lawyer at Bank of America, for bi-monthly meetings.
“Being able to discuss the development of the project in detail with my mentor, while being challenged to bring new perspectives and ideas pushed me and improved the project tremendously.” Aïssetou says.

"To have the opportunity to exchange with someone who has a fresh look at my project and who pushes me to argue my orientations, it's super enriching! She really pushed me to think bigger, to broaden my offer and her support gives me a huge desire to succeed! »

Today, Aïssetou’s project is entering the market and is now ready to start operating : “You have to go for it, even if everything isn’t perfect. I’ll definitely make mistakes but what matters the most is to learn from them to move forward!’
