Inauguration of the first Sport dans la Ville centre in Marseille

The creation of the first Sport dans la Ville centre in Marseille is the result of a strong partnership with the City of Marseille, the Aix Marseille Provence Metropolis, the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council, the Southern Region, the State and local businesses. Sport to promote the social and professional success of young people

Located in the heart of the Frais Vallon district, this centre is a space for animation and development for young people aged 6 to 22 years old, who will be able to take part, free of charge, every Wednesday and Saturday, in soccer sessions supervised by professional sports coaches, employees of the Association.

"The Frais Vallon district is part of an ambitious urban renewal project. The partnership between Habitat Marseille Provence and Sport dans la Ville allows us to anticipate certain changes but also to offer children and teenagers quality sports facilities. We are pleased to make this facility available to the inhabitants and the network of associations in Frais Vallon (social centre, tenants' associations, sports associations)," says Patrick Padovani, President of Habitat Marseille Provence.

The objective of the Association's action is to help each young person progress in his or her sporting practice and also in his or her individual and collective behaviour. Through its work over time, Sport dans la Ville wishes to be able to guide each young person in his or her life, training and professional integration.

" The development of our fields allows a reappropriation of public space by creating quality sports spaces. Moreover, the practice of sport, thanks to the values it transmits, allows us to offer 150 young people in this first year, an additional chance to access a training and employment project" explains Valérie Martin, Regional Director South of Sport dans la Ville.

The inauguration of this first centre took place in the presence of Marie Aubert, Prefect Delegate for Equal Opportunities, Arlette Fructus, Vice President Delegate for Housing and Community Policy of the State of the Metropolis, the Association's partner companies and the Sport dans la Ville team.
